“We decided to launch the MFL for Bring a New Option for Professional Fighters and that they can compete at a high level,” said Joe Merullo, co-founder of this new brand, in an interview with ESTO.
The idea to start with this project came about when Merullo and his friend Mack Meyer they tried to replicate the idea of a program called 'Oktagon'.
“When I went to my first event in Mexico I was Excited to see the fighters, but I thought it was missing something, I was watching a program called “Oktagon” one day and I said 'wow, these guys know how to do an event', I was with my partner Mack and I said 'hey what if we do something like Oktagon but for America'.
This program was born in Europe, with headquarters in Czech Republic and Slovakia,who are considered to be one of the largest MMA organizations, their founders are Pavol Neruda and Ondřej Novotný.
Despite the fact that Joe was not born in our country, being of American nationality, he has been around for more than five Years established in Mexico, being also one of the incentives that motivated him to create such an organization, especially when he noticed the potential of the national fighter.
“Mexico is the Heart of Latin America, they have the best population, they have the best fighters, it's full of talent” and added that: “we had the opportunity here and we couldn't miss it, it's the city where we live, we want to build here for Mexicans,” he continued.
In the same way, the businessman assured that the Mexican fighter is different from the rest thanks to their desire to succeed: “Mexican fighters are some of the toughest I've seen, they give up their last drop of sweat to win, they're ambitious and talented,” he said.
Finally, he confessed that his Objective with the MFL It is to reach more audiences, fill arenas with greater capacity and expand to Latin America.
